Vikings pick up Win at Lowell
The Valparaiso Vikings put on a commanding performance at Lowell Tuesday night, securing a 56-38 victory over the Lowell Red Devils in a non-conference matchup.
From the opening tip, Valpo asserted its dominance, setting the tone with a 16-6 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Crowell was the night's standout, leading all scorers with 16 points on an efficient shooting from the field. His ability to convert from both inside and beyond the arc made him a constant threat. Crowell also contributed defensively, grabbing four rebounds total and adding two assists.
Joining Crowell in the scoring effort was Stokes, who tallied eight points while shooting 75% from the field. Stokes was a crucial presence in the paint, grabbing key rebounds and converting on high-percentage looks. Wagner also had an all-around solid game, posting six points and five rebounds while disrupting Lowell’s offense with two steals. Valpo’s defense was a difference-maker, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities. Reeves played the role of facilitator, dishing out five assists, while Redmond showed his court vision, adding three assists of his own. Their ability to move the ball and create open looks helped the Vikings shoot an impressive 53% from the field.
While Lowell showed some fight in the second half, outscoring Valpo 14-7 in the final quarter, the Vikings’ early lead proved impossible. Valpo’s efficiency from the free-throw line and their ability to control the boards ensured that the Red Devils could never close the gap. With this win, the Vikings continue to build momentum heading into the heart of their season. Their balanced offensive attack and defense make them a challenging opponent moving forward. Valparaiso will look to carry this energy into their next matchup as they prepare for another back-to-back contest
