The Valparaiso Vikings secured a hard-fought 57-53 home victory over Munster in a tightly contested non-conference matchup. The third quarter remained competitive, but Valpo kept pace, entering the final period down 41-44. A decisive fourth quarter, where the Vikings outscored Munster 16-9, ultimately secured the win. Crowell played a pivotal role for Valpo, leading the team with 10 points. His inside presence was crucial grabbing seven rebounds, the most on the team. Kimes also had an efficient night, contributing 9 points and two assists. The Vikings’ defensive intensity played a key role, particularly in the fourth quarter. They finished with 18 total rebounds, led by Crowell’s 7 boards. At the free-throw line, Valpo shot 14 of 21, which helped maintain their lead late in the game. While Munster fought hard, Valpo’s ability to make crucial defensive stops and convert high-percentage shots ultimately gave them the edge. While Munster challenged them at every step, Valpo’s defensive toughness and clutch fourth-quarter execution secured the hard-fought win.
