Valpo defeats Hobart 

The Valparaiso Vikings pulled out a 70-34 win Tuesday night against the Hobart Brickies. Both teams started off in the first quarter with a back-and-forth pace, Valpo quickly took control in the second, breaking away from the Brickies. Valpo already found their rhythm from the first half with fast ball movement, strong shooting, and wild defensive play. Just before the end of the first half, Redmond made a great defensive play, snatching a steal from Hobart and immediately converting it into a basket, capping off Valpo’s 28-19 first half. Leading for Valpo were Avery and Crowell. Avery put up 14 points (which include four three-pointers), with 5 assists and 6 rebounds total, and Crowell with 14 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. Wagner filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 3 blocks, and 8 rebounds total. Keene and Redmond each added four points and provided prominent defense. By the third quarter, the Vikings had built an insurmountable lead, outscoring Hobart 17-9 in the third and 25-6 in the fourth. With a commanding second-half performance, the Vikings left no doubt about their capability, overwhelming the Brickies on both ends of the court. Their strong shooting and defensive pressure led them to a big win.
